Multipurpose Hand-Held Radiation Monitor/Identifier РМ1401К-3

PM1401K-3 is the smallest and the most lightweight instrument in the world, which is capable to operate simultaneously as an alarming device, search instrument, survey meter, spectrometer and identifier.

Instrument performs continuous measurement of ambient dose equivalent rate of gamma and X-ray radiation in the wide energy range, monitors alpha, beta and neutron radiations, works as spectrometer of gamma radiation and radioisotope identifier, and measures food/soil contamination by 137Cs radionuclide. All operation history is stored in the instruments non-volatile memory and may be downloaded to a personal computer through a USB interface. PM1401K-3 is also equipped with built-in GPS to enable geocached data logging. Shock and water resistant case ensures IP65 class environmental protection.

Operation Principle

Multipurpose Hand-Held Radiation Monitor/Identifier РМ1401К-3 is designed for detection, search and localization of alpha, beta, gamma and neutron radiation sources, measurement of ambient dose equivalent rate of gamma and X-ray radiation,  α-, β- radiation flux density and  137Cs activity. PM1401K-3 performs automatic identification of radionuclides by analyzing gamma radiation spectra.

Instrument is equipped with built-in audible and visual alarms, GPS module, USB interface for PC communication. Non-volatile memory allows recording and storing up to 10 000 events. PM1401K-3 has compact size and lightweight, bright and color LCD, shockproof hermetic case and can be used in both indoor and outdoor environments.


  • РМ1401К-3 – basic model of the instrument. It uses 3He tube for detection and registration of neutron radiation.
  • РМ1401К-3М – is a gamma-only model of the instrument without neutron detection capabilities.
  • РМ1401К-3A – is a model of the instrument that uses small volume 6LiI(Eu) neutron detector. However, its neutron sensitivity is selected to comply with ANSI 42.32 requirements for PRDs.
  • РМ1401К-3P – is a model of the instrument that uses 6LiI(Eu) scintillator based neutron detector which neutron sensitivity is similar to the base model PM1401K-3.
